JFCS East Bay is pleased to partner with New Lehrhaus in presenting this special workshop.
Why do we feel called to welcome the stranger? Delve into texts that inspire this mandate and learn how Jews and others are currently putting it into practice by welcoming refugees to our community.
Presenters:
Avi Rose, LCSW, led JFCS East Bay for fifteen years until retiring in 2020. He worked alongside staff and many community volunteers to guide the agency’s gradual expansion from resettling Russian Jews to resettling refugees of all backgrounds from many countries.
Fouzia Palyal Azizi is Director of Refugee Services at Jewish Family & Community Services East Bay. Fouzia grew up in Afghanistan and came to the U.S. as a refugee in the 1990s.
