We at JFCS East Bay are still in shock about the brutal tragedy in Pittsburgh. We invite you to join us as we come together in community to share our grief, our vulnerability, our determination, and our anger. Tonight and tomorrow, I will be speaking at gatherings for our community in Berkeley and Walnut Creek; we express our gratitude to our partners that are hosting and organizing these events:

Sing, Grieve, Connect: A Community Gathering
Monday, October 29
8:00 to 9:30pm
JCC East Bay: 1414 Walnut Street, Berkeley

Community Memorial Service
Tuesday, October 30
7:00 to 8:00pm
Congregation B’nai Shalom: 74 Eckley Lane, Walnut Creek

JFCS East Bay has also received many inquiries from people wanting to show their support for our work with refugees, joining our determination that in the face of the hatred and violence that comes with anti-Semitism and xenophobia, we will stand firm in serving and welcoming refugees. If you are moved to contribute in memory of the eleven Jews murdered in Pittsburgh, we will be honored to use it to strengthen our efforts. May their memories be for a blessing. In addition, we encourage you to participate in JFCS Pittsburgh’s effort to gather messages of support for the bereaved and injured victims of the shooting.

In comfort and solidarity,

Avi Rose
Executive Director
