Ingredients

  • 6 large apples
  • 6 teaspoons honey (plus more for garnish)
  • ¼ cup fruit juice (orange and cranberry work well)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Pinch cinnamon
  • Dried fruits and nuts to taste (walnuts, dried apricots, etc)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Scoop out the apple cores. Careful not to cut through the apple bottoms!
  • Set the cored apples in a baking dish with a little water in the bottom.
  • Mix the honey and juice, then pour the mixture into the centers of the apples.
  • Bake for 50 minutes or until the apples are tender.
  • Remove the apples from the oven. Sprinkle the tops with cinnamon and sugar.
  • Set the oven to broil.
  • Place the apples under the broiler for 2 minutes to set the sugar glaze.
  • Fill the centers of the apples with your choice of dried fruits and nuts and drizzle with honey.
